I am an 18 year old History student who since 2017 has represented BYC at international events and the European Youth Forum. I first joined BYC as the Member of Youth Parliament for Glasgow and West of Scotland in 2013 and since then has served as Procedures Group member for Scotland as well as been part of the Youth Select Committee for Mental Health Services. In 2015 I spoke in favour of the Living Wage for All at the UKYP House of Commons debate winning the Paul Boskett Memorial Cup for best Despatch Box speech of the day. Internationally, I have represented young people in the UK at the 7-yearly meeting of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in part ensuring that the Vote at 16 made it into recommendations to the government and more recently in 2017 I’ve attended summits across Europe. Among these was the Youth G20 summit in Berlin in which I presented recommendations on Climate Change and political responsibility to Chancellor Angela Merkel.
